The Jaw Breaker Throws in the Towel

Dennis "J.B." Skelton has dismissed his lawsuit in the Eastern District Court of Appeals.

J.B.'s appeal was filed to overturn the results of the April 7, 2009 election that adopted tax decrease proposals, Propositions 1 & 2.

Propositions 1 & 2 were approved by huge majorities of South County voters. However, J.B. and his firefighter union financial supporters decided that voters should not have the right to vote on reducing their taxes and filed a lawsuit to keep them off the ballot. When a St. Louis County Circuit Judge threw out J.B.'s first flimsy lawsuit, he and his sorry excuse for a lawyer, John Goffstein, filed an appeal to "overturn the vote". Now they have given up. GOOD!

The Mehlville Fire Protection District is moving forward in a very positive manner under the leadership of Chiefs Jim Silvernail and Tim White. Dennis "Jaw Breaker" Skelton and the firefighters unions have attempted to thwart every attempt to reform and modernize the MFPD. They have utterly failed in every attempt to challenge the Board's powers. We hope Skelton and his union buddies find a more positive outlet for their activism and disappear like the dinosaurs they are.
