The South County Truth Spot has learned that another employee of the Mehlville Fire Protection District has been terminated for violating the district's anti-harassment policy.
According to unnamed district sources, the offending employee made harassing telephone calls to other MFPD personnel while disguising his identity by using the Internet to simulate the telephone number of MFPD headquarters.
According to the complaints filed by more than 10 MFPD employees with St. Louis County Police, employees were led to believe that they were being contacted by a district official and told that "Bonnie Stegman was going to fire them after the election" among other threats.
The aggrieved MFPD employees contacted the Fire Chief's office and were told to file complaints with the County Police. Employees claim to have been "psychologically disturbed" by the terminated employee's threats.
The REALLY FUNNY part of this story is that: as soon as the "psychologically disturbed" employees discovered that a fellow union member (not the officials of the MFPD) was responsible for the bogus threatening phone calls, THEY ALL DROPPED THEIR COMPLAINTS WITH ST. LOUIS COUNTY POLICE! We smell a rat here.
We find it extremely disingenuous that these delicate souls who were so "disturbed" when contacted by the phony telephone calls were immediately psychologically sound when they found out it was a fabricated plot by one of their colleagues.
The South County Truth Spot believes that the MFPD Board must open an investigation of the employees who were so "psychologically disturbed" that they filed complaints with the police (filing a false police report is a crime) then dropped them as soon as they found out that a "union brother" was responsible. We also ask if this whole sad incident was hatched by disgruntled employees to discredit the Board.
St. Louis County is pressing charges against the terminated employee. The court date is in early October.
